WHY I'M RUNNING TO BE YOUR CONGRESSMAN:

As a business leader and a fiscally conservative Democrat, I decided it was time to be a part of the change I wanted to see delivered in the state of Iowa. Instead of accepting a promotion on Wall Street at one of the world’s largest financial institutions, where I worked following my graduation from the University of Iowa, I moved home to serve the people of Iowa’s 5th District.

I know what it’s like to grow up in Iowa, receive a first-rate education at one of Iowa’s universities, and not have in-state opportunities after graduation. I am here to address this problem with determination. I have a vision for what our district and our state could be if we focused on creating opportunities in the 5th District in order to keep our best students and professionals at home.

This state has given me a lot, from the values and work ethic my parents instilled in me on the farm to a world-class education that allowed me to excel in high finance. Now it’s time to put my experiences as a small business manager, teacher, and banker to work for Iowans by bringing sensible and pragmatic representation to the people of the 5th District.

My candidacy will focus on job creation in the 5th District, expanding educational opportunities for 5th District Iowans, sensible health care reform, financial system improvements to protect regular Iowans like you and me, relief for overburdened Iowa taxpayers, elimination of waste in government spending, and responsible federal debt reduction.
